HK METAL TRADING, LTD.
Is a scrap metal trading company that has been around since 1986. We buy scrap metal from all over the world (USA, Central S. America, Middle East, Europe) and sell to our buyers located in China. The Shipping & Booking Department is of the utmost importance to the company as without it, we wouldn’t have business.
Due to an increase in business, we are looking to expand our team and hire a full-time shipping/booking assistant that is willing to do basic clerical work as well.
Headquarters are based in Hong Kong, with offices all around USA. This is a full-time position to work in our office located in Queens, New York.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES as a SHIPPING/BOOKING ASSISTANT:
- Assist the manager in booking Ocean Freight & Trucking by communicating with customers, providing rate quotes, booking & processing ocean export shipments
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES as an ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT:
- Answering phone calls, responding to e-mails, and filing away documents
- Must be flexible for other responsibilities such as contacting our China buyers to request price quotes on a daily basis
REQUIREMENTS:
- Speak Mandarin & English fluently
- Be able to work independently
SKILLS:
- Excellent communicational skills
- Excellent computer skills: must be familiar with Microsoft applications
- Must be organized and be able to multi-task, goal-oriented, resourceful, and creative
- Works well under pressure and tight deadlines
- A team player
- A quick-learner as well as a self-starter
- An individual with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in the booking/shipping department.
